If the Dallas Cowboys can really put together a structured, disciplined, team first system?

Can they do so without changing their leadership such as coaching staff?
How can the current coaches completely change the way they run the team when they have already established a different relationship with the players?
What players to you feel would and would not fit into such a system if this actually does happen?

If you want to change the culture of your organization…any business organization…you need to start with a complete overhaul at the top. Wade Phillips has already established himself as what he is with the team. He is a soft coach who wants his players to like him more than repsect him. If he comes in next year and tries to crack the whip on his team nobody is going to take him seriously. Did you ever have a teacher in school when you were young that would let you get away with alot? What happened when that teacher got frustrated and started to get mad…nobody listened to the teacher’s plea for obedience for more than 5 minutes, and then it was back to goofing off. Parcells put a good structure in place, but Phillips ruined it.
As for the players…selfish, me-first players won’t fit into a locker room that is built on team chemistry. The obvious names are TO and Pacman…they only care about one thing…their own personal gain. You can’t have players like this on a team that is going to learn to gel together and play for each other.
I live in Dallas. Lots of sportswriters yakking about the Cowboys all the time. Pretty much what they say is that as long as Wade Phillips remains, and Jerry Jones keeps running the team, it won’t change very much. Phillips is a gentle, easy going man who should be running a donut shop not a football team. (My words, not a sportwriter’s). Jones likes that so he can control Phillips easily and run the team himself.
As long as no one is in direct control of 53 strong team members, we will continue to have mixed up players, plays and fans.
Oh well, soon maybe Jones son, Steven, will take over and run the team with a real coach.
I think they can, but they need someone other than Jerry Jones as GM. Also, they need a director of player personnel that won’t be afraid to make an example of a problem player. They need to start with T.O. and let him know that if he wants to stay on the team, he needs to keep his mouth shut.
If you want discipline then you need to hire a disciplinarian. I have said it a thousand times that the Cowboys need to hire Brian Billick to be their defensive coordinator.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I agree with Bevo. Jerry needs to swallow his pride and hire a football man to be his gm. That’s never gonna happen though so I fear Dallas will not ever win a super bowl again with J.J. as owner.
