If all eyes in the organization are facing the leader, then everyone’s ass is facing the customer.

The traditional and inverted pyramid has its own value and advantage. When the “chips are down” then go central and do control. Vice versa, decentralized on invert the pyramid. Of course what is ideal ( w/c is the inverted one) is not always the reality. As a Leader you should be flexible in situations.
