Life Coaches

More and more people are in need of direction in their lives – a way to be guided toward their true passions. And with the increase in desire is an increase in people who want to help them. There are many who have spent years becoming therapists and counselors in order to direct specific aspects of people’s lives, but now there are more people sprouting up who want help with all aspects of life. These people are known as life coaches. But many ask: How does a person go about becoming one?

The most common way people are becoming life coaches is by obtaining a life coach certificate. Depending on the program, the certificate will be the result of the student learning anything from how to guide people through major life decisions, to how to teach holistic health, meditation and self-hypnosis. However, the program I will focus on is offered at Atlantic University in Virginia Beach, VA and is called the Spiritual Guidance Mentorship Program.

This program’s certificate serves as a partner of the life coach certificate. According to Atlantic University, it is a “training program for individuals who wish to help and guide others on their Spiritual Path.” Unlike therapy training, this program looks to help those interested in gaining a deep level of enlightenment through meditation and prayer, dreams, and learning their soul’s purpose on earth.

One of the major requirements of this program is that those looking to obtain this certificate are already doing their own soul searching, not just to be able to identify better with the person they will be mentoring, but also to elevate to the level of spirituality necessary to mentor and be spiritual friends to others without judgment or conditions. This level of holistic mentorship works to build the spirituality of the mind, body and soul, helping others to develop a strong sense of self so that they may eventually connect wholeheartedly with their soul’s purpose – essentially enabling them to serve others with their own special gifts one day. Becoming a spiritual mentor or life coach is not a task to be taken lightly and should be held with the highest regard.

If you want more information on obtaining a life coach certificate or any alternative, using various search engines and typing in life coach certificate or spiritual guidance mentorship should take you to several ways to get started. And if you are interested in receiving a life coach’s guidance there are plenty of already certified coaches waiting to help you make new and harmonious changes in your life.

how can I start life coaching in puerto rico?

I have a bachelor’s degree in social work and really like the idea of life coaching vs. talk-therapy. I am interested in some ideas on how to get started and if I have to take specific classes, ect. I just finished school but have been in the mental health and chemical dependence field for some years now and tend to have a pretty realistic outlook on life. Help!

It would be best if you take a course and get ICF certification in Life Coaching. Life Coaching is not like therapy: you are not the expert; the client is the expert on his/her life and you are there to ask the right questions to help the client discover how they should proceed. You are there to mirror the client, help them set goals and hold them accountable for the goals that they set.
Hope this helps.
