How to become a personal/relationship COACH?

I really want to get in the field of relationship/personal coaching and was wondering if anyone knew if there was any special schooling needed, internship, supervised hours, licencing, certification, etc ffor this? How bout for business coaching? I got my BA in organizational communication and minor was psychology. also, how much do relationship coaches typicall charge, and their typical salary? Do they work from home, see their clients face-to-face or over the phone? help! thanks,

Check with your state to see what their requirements for a license are. PR coaches are like consultants and they charge anywhere from $60-$120 depending on what results are needed and who sends the customers/clients to you. Usually they work out of their own business office (so you’d need to do your five year plan from sba.gov) although a few work from the internet. If you work from the internet you will need a contract, and since it’s always difficult to determine who lives where in the world, it’s difficult to collect money for “services” rendered. If you have a brick and mortar business then you’d probably belong to the BBB who to a point would save your butt if someone complains against you.
The only salaried positions would be working for the state, and maybe the county like with welfare clients and of course the salary would be a lot less than you having your own business but you’d probably be getting a good benefits package.
You asked if there was special schooling needed. I don’t know if in some instances you’d need to be a psychologist or social worker first, but you’d either need many years of experience or have specialized in it in college. You might consider working as an intern to a psychologist or psychiatrist for a while.
